What's a recipe for a comedy? A group of detectives working undercover at the chicken stall and having to perfect the fried chicken recipe? Sure, why not? That was what I thought when I first watched the trailer for Extreme Job 극한직업 with my grandma at the cinema during the trailers before a movie started. The Chinese title 鸡不可失 is even more memorable as it plays on the idiom 机不可失 (meaning an opportunity not to be missed) but changing 机 to 鸡, which means chicken. This certainly relates directly to the movie's main plot. Despite not being able to read 100% of the  subtitles, my grandma's laughter made me decide to bring her to watch this movie. I certainly (die-die must watch this movie or in other words) could not miss this. The Good Content - Unique story plot: Plots revolving around detectives going undercover are relatively common. My very first manga that made me binge read about 70 to 80 chapters over a few days at one go? That is Sensei Kunshu センセイ君主! I was extremely excited to watch Sensei Kunshu (My Teacher, My Love), the film adapted from the manga with the same title. I don't think it's that popular or famous because I only found 12 chapters in English online and had to find the rest of the chapters in Korean on another website. I came to know about it as it's the manga I read fully after watching the movie trailer last year. I watched the trailer because Twice's song "I Want You Back" was featured inside!! The Good - Very very funny moments, especially Ayuha/Samarun's funny facial expressions which make her very dorky. My mother and friends commented that Ayuha looked weird in long hair and when she changed to a short bob haircut one and a half years later, she looked like a completely different person. A local version of Reply 1994? Sounds promising, doesn't it? For the past few weeks, I've been addicted to the Channel 8 9pm drama 谢谢你出现在我的行程里 Walk With Me. The drama has a title that's quite a mouthful but I'm glad to say the content is quite full as well. 😛 The drama first attracted me with its strong and emotional theme song "再见 My Love" before the start of every episode, showcasing its highlights. THE GOOD PLOT  The plot is reminiscent to Reply 1994, where they had a boarding house and people from all over Korea came to stay over. In 谢谢, people from China, Taiwan and Malaysia came to Singapore to stay over at Yuxiu(played by Fann Wong)'s house. In the show, Yuxiu has a daughter, Jiaqi(played by He Yingying) who came back from studying in the UK. It starts off with a kiss. What a sweet start right? But no. Then it goes downhill for Xiangqin, the female protagonist, as she is harshly rejected by Zhishu, the male protagonist that she crushes hard on after the accidental kiss. And somehow or another she moves in and stays with his family after becoming homeless. As dramatic as it sounds, it's actually a satisfying movie to watch! The Good PLOT The plot pace is okay as it's not draggy. As it focuses on romance, it has 4 kiss scenes. Seems excessive? Not really, they seem appropriate and are not just there to make up the number so that the movie matches up to its name hahaha. Other than funny scenes, there were many tearjerking moments, like when Xiangqin thought that Zhishu was gonna marry Shahui and gave him her blessings, because if you love someone, you would wish for him or her to be happy. 14 February 2019 Happy Valentine's Day! It was a 单独约会 solo date between my grandma and me and the cinema hall seats were more than half filled. Probably because 1. It's Valentine's Day so many couples came for a movie date. 2. It's the first day of the movie release! Not bad hahahaha very comedic!! XD Nathan Hartono's only line was "I Love You" because he acted as a zombie. The plot was quite interesting and the most touching part was when the zombie played Ferlyn's speech(she plays as Zhen Zhen) at Miss Singapura during his speech after winning Mr Perfect and said "I love you" on behalf of the Ferlyn to her mother, Fann Wong. I almost shed some tears at that part and heard some sniffs from the audience. Today, I'll be addressing this because during secondary four, many of my friends thought really hard about their choices, as this would ultimately affect their future.  As a current Polytechnic second-year student, I do not regret my choice of entering poly.
