David Tao:“It felt like I was in Night Safari”

 Fans got a bit too up close and personal with David Tao(Tao Zhe) when he went off the stage to interact more closely with them during his Up-close with David Tao concert stop at Singapore Indoor Stadium on 9 June. 

 David Tao joked that it may be the first time a concert held in Singapore Indoor Stadium felt like a night safari. This is because it was very dark and many fans rushed forward enthusiastically to hug him. The audience also erupted in laughter when David lamented jokingly that when a passionate male fan hugged him, the microphone hit his teeth and the fan might have to pay for his dental bills if his teeth fell off. 

 David Tao started the concert with a punch with Run Away, followed by more familiar hits such as Just a Friend, Airport 10.30 and a slightly newer song called Mars Baby.  He also serenaded old and new fans alike with I Love You, Moon Over My Heart and Marry Me Today with Charis Chua. 

 Local a cappella group MICappella also made a guest performance before and during the concert. During the concert, they transformed Our Story, which David composed and arranged, into an a cappella performance and performed along with him. 

 It has been eight years since David Tao held his previous concert in Singapore and he performed to a nearly-full stadium, with CAT 1 and CAT 3 tickets fully sold out. 

 The indoor stadium illuminated with shades of dark and light blue from the complementary lightsticks given out in collaboration with Singtel Music, Samsung and Universal Music Singapore. David even requested the concert director to brighten the stage lights so that he could view his fans’ faces more clearly. 

 David promises that he would be back in Singapore sooner for another concert. He also shared that he is preparing his next album and would release it within this year. Fans can anticipate for his music as it has been five years since he latest album Hello Goodbye.
